Edge of Seventeen
Friends, we’ve clawed our way through this minefield of a year and it’s nearly over. Praise Be! While we endured dreadful new lows, the momentum behind our breakthroughs makes me optimistic about continued progress in the year to come. But before we move on to 2018, I’d like to give thanks to a few things that helped me survive 2017:

  • Friends & Family
Whether enjoying an epic summer in Washington, soaking up a visit to the east coast, killing it on Halloween, or dancing together at our first Macklemore concert, my loved ones brought me happiness during a year in which it was particularly hard to come by.
  • Self Care
I didn’t meet a sheet mask I didn’t love this year. Every night became a candlelit healing ritual in my bathroom, filled with cleansers, scrubs, and serums. I splurged on things I’ve always wanted to try and discovered new favorites (all hail Rihanna and her perfect foundation). I also lost ten pounds of baby weight thanks to a steady stream of stress, anxiety, and a consistent workout
  • You!
Three months ago, I started this newsletter as an outlet to vent political frustrations, highlight interesting stories, and share tips on good deals. I never imagined how much I’d love doing it. Providing other women with a little humor, information, and support is the most rewarding work I’ve done. THANK YOU for signing up to follow this woman with a plan.
Now let’s do this! 💪

Kudos to the New York Times on this nine-part series on the crossover between gun violence and domestic violence in our country. Well worth the read.
A terrific collection of The Most 2017 Photos Ever.
Ugh. I’ll never look at Never Been Kissed the same way again.
Guilty as charged (see “Self Care” above).
Amen! Let 2017 be known as the year of the Dern. #liveyourbestlifegirlfriend
A solid roundup of the 50 Best Podcasts of the year - putting several of these on my playlist.
Well, this comes as no surprise. The day we moved into our first house, I discovered a mangy looking dog lying in the backyard. I called my husband over to check him out and he said, “uh, that’s no dog, that’s a coyote.”
New Yorkers are so lucky to be enjoying these guerilla flower installations by floral designer Lewis Miller. Come to Seattle next, please!

Love this roundup of the 2017’s Best Beauty Tips from Into The Gloss.
I’m definitely buying this chunky scarf - love the red and orange option, but I’m leaning toward navy.
Cheers! Bring it on, 2018.
Happy New Year! 🥂🎉
