Hello friends! It’s been a crazy few weeks, but I’m glad to be back. What have I been up to? Take a guess…
A. Undergoing gastrointestinal surgery.
B. Planning to relocate my family to Europe.
C. Resigning from my job.
D. All of the above.
Last month, a routine check on my Crohn’s Disease set off a red flag and within a week I was on a surgeon’s table. Meanwhile, my husband concluded an extensive interview process and was offered a new job overseas. Change was clearly in the air. We’ve always dreamed of living abroad, especially as our family has grown. But much like surgery, it was never a convenient choice until it became impossible to turn down. Now that the dust has settled, I’m recovering well, contracts have been signed, and come June I’ll be a stay-at-home mom in a foreign city. Cue the Falco
, because we’re moving to VIENNA, AUSTRIA. 😲 We leave in exactly one month, and my mental state is a rainbow of emotions, from excitement to shock, happiness, and anxiety… oh so much anxiety.
I’ve never been to Austria, much less with three small children in tow. We have a darn near perfect life in Seattle; some would find it implausible to move away. But then I think about all the exploring we’ll do. And our kids learning German. And dressing our family like this
. Experiences we’d never have if we stay put. So go we must, and if you’re up for it, I hope you’ll join me for the adventure.
